Family of Man Killed in Crash Sues Maker of Plane's Engine
CHICAGO The family of an Illinois man killed in a plane crash last month is suing the company that made the plane's engines.
Michael Waugh's family today filed a Wrongful Death lawsuit against Teledyne Continental Motors of Mobile, Alabama, which makes engines for the Cessna 421.
A Teledyne spokeswoman didn't immediately return a call today seeking comment on the lawsuit.
Waugh and three others died on January 30th when a light plane crashed near Palwaukee Airport . The lawsuit also names the estates of the plane's pilot and co-pilot as defendants.
Authorities haven't released a cause for the crash.
A National Traffic Safety Board investigator last week said that marks on the wrecked plane's propellors seemed to indicate that the right engine was functioning at the time of impact, but the left engine wasn't.
